Teachers In The Webster Groves, Parkway or Lindbergh School Districts Can Be Nominated For A DoorDash Gift Card

St. Louis, MO: St. Louis area law firm Marler Law Partners is looking to continue their mission of helping good people during hard times by giving back to teachers who have been impacted by school campus closures.

Any teacher at Avery Elementary of the Webster Groves School District, Sappington Elementary of the Lindbergh School District or Claymont Elementary of the Parkway School District can be nominated online by students, peers, friends or family to receive a “Meal On Marler Law Partners” via a free $50 DoorDash gift card while supplies last.

“We selected these schools because our they have impacted our MLP Family. Either children or family members have worked at or attended these schools over the years and we wanted to show appreciation to educators.”

To learn more about the “Meal On Marler Law Partners Program,” read a letter from the Managing Partner below.

Letter From MLP Managing Partner Sara Marler

“School is happening in person!”

“Oh wait… now it’s partially virtual. It’s virtual AND in person.”

“They pushed out their announcement another two weeks!”

These are the types of conflicting messages parents in the St. Louis area and around the U.S. have been hearing since early July while patiently awaiting a COVID-safe school plan for their children.

As a parent and business owner, I can tell you it’s been a roller coaster of emotions waiting for those “school plans” to be released.

A little less than a week out, we learned what most of you learned: This semester will be virtual. At least if you have kids in the Webster Groves or a St. Louis County school district like mine.

As our firm was preparing for the back-to-school season, we wanted to think about how we could best give back and support educators during this unprecedented school year.

In March and April, we focused on delivering groceries and supplies to the most vulnerable in our communities.

In May we focused on fundraising for the First Responders’ Children’s Foundation. And as we’re buckling back up for Fall 2020, we wanted to share the same support for our teachers.

When we first discussed this in July, we were preparing to stock up on cleaning supplies, PPE and other items that teachers would desperately need if they were to return to in-person education.

Similar to our meal deliveries, we wanted teachers in our firm’s “home” school districts to be able to request any cleaning and protective supplies that couldn’t be met by the school’s budget.

However, we quickly realized that this reality seemed less and less likely as plans for in-person education were delayed.

Instead of scrapping our teacher appreciation give back all together, we wanted to still let educators know how important they are to us and our community.

Even though most parents (myself included) would have appreciated the sanity of having our kids back in school, we understand that the safety of our children and their teachers takes precedence.

Since deep cleaning classrooms is no longer necessary, we shifted our plan to providing teachers a “Meal on Marler Law Partners.”

We are soliciting community members to nominate teachers from Avery Elementary, Sappington Elementary or Claymont Elementary to receive a meal for themselves or their families. Three teachers will be selected each Monday in September to receive a $50 DoorDash giftcard.

You can nominate your favorite teacher via our web form using a verified school email address.

We recognize moving from in-person education to 100% virtual teaching will be a strain on our educators.

How do you take a science lab and make it work from home? How do you keep the attention of 2nd graders staring at an iPad screen?

We hope that this small token of our appreciation can provide some teachers relief while they are working overtime creating new ways to continue to give our kids a quality education through virtual learning.

FARMINGTON, MO: As the Stay-at-Home Orders enters its second month for many in the region, Marler Law Partners, a local Farmington law firm, was looking for another way to support the community during the COVID19 Crisis.

Back in March, Marler Law Partners delivered groceries and supplies to neighbors in need who lived in Farmington and surrounding areas. This month, they have decided to host an online fundraiser for First Responders Children’s Foundation.

The Foundation’s mission is to provide financial support to both children who have lost a parent in the line of duty, as well as families enduring significant financial hardships due to tragic circumstances.

Right now, the Foundation is fundraising to provide hotel rooms to those working the front line of the COVID –19 crisis so they can self-quarantine to keep their families safe, materials for health professionals and grants for first responder families.

Join Marler Law Partners in donating via the fundraiser website Marler.GiveSmart.com or by texting MARLER to 76278 now through the end of June.

MLP Managing Partner Sara Marler reflected on the grocery delivery project’s impact. “We were overwhelmed with the responses. We started out thinking we would be able to deliver to 20 families and ended up delivering to 36 that first weekend. We still had more requests we weren’t able to fulfill and ended up doing Walmart deliveries in April to those who we could reach.”

Bobbi Janzekovich, was one of the individuals who reached out to Marler Law Partners in March. “I will never forget the kindness [Marler Law Partners] showed me. Thank you for everything. [They are] doing God’s work. ‘When I was hungry you fed me, When I was cold you clothed me!’,” Bobbi commented on the company’s Facebook page.

In April, Marler became aware of the efforts of the First Responders Children’s Foundation through a friend. They wanted to help those on the front lines fighting COVID and this organization’s mission aligned with that goal.

“The more I read online about what healthcare workers and their families were going through during this time, I knew I had to do something to help.”

Donate to the Marler Law Partner’s fundraiser for First Responders Children’s Foundation: Marler.GiveSmart.com.

As March is winding down, I find myself doing what most business owners are doing at this point of the year: Examining my first quarter goals and results.

Whether you are a business owner or not, you may find yourself examining the personal and professional goals you set for yourself at the beginning of the year. For example:

Did you improve your performance at work?

Did you save money by eating out less?

Were you successful cutting down on binging Netflix?

As a business owner, I look not only at the goals I set for myself, but for my entire business and the individuals on my team.

How many cases had favorable outcomes for our clients?

Did everyone on the team have the right balance of client work and office work?

How many new clients did we gain?

How many positive/negative reviews did we receive?

Is my team satisfied with their work and our culture?

Measuring Our Impact

It’s important to pencil in these times for reflection as a business owner. Our goal at Marler Law Partners is to “Help Good People Through Hard Times.” However, that goal means very little if we aren’t measuring how we achieve it. So, how do we measure that?

We look at:

Favorable outcomes for our clients

Total number of clients we served who otherwise wouldn’t have legal support

Client satisfaction surveys

Budget and spending for charitable contributions

Community service hours

So yes, when someone from our office calls or emails to check on how you are doing and how our work is going for you, WE REALLY DO CARE!

As a firm, we look over all the notes we get back from clients and reflect on how we can perform even better. Every evaluation, both positive and negative is sincerely taken to heart and discussed each month with every member of our staff at our firm meetings.

Impact Outside of Our Client Services

While working to do everything we can to help our clients through hard times, we also try to look at how we can help the greater Farmington and Southeast Missouri community. We look at the needs of our community and ask ourselves, “How can we help?”

That is why we encourage our employees to give back and volunteer locally whenever possible. That’s also why our firm donates to a number of local charities and families in need throughout the year. And next month (April 2020), we’re holding an online fundraiser for Bikers Against Child Abuse in honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Our firm will match the first $500.00 donated to our Facebook fundraiser to support the local BACA chapter. Our fundraiser will start April 1 and end April 30. We hope that you can join us in supporting such a noble cause that has helped protect thousands of children nationwide.

Click here to donate to our Facebook fundraiser for BACA. If you have any other local service opportunities you think we should consider, email me personally.

MARLER LAW PARTNERS GIVES BACK DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON

MLP Gives Back To Youth Organization & Donates Holiday Party Budget To Families In Need

Farmington, MO: Helping Good People Through Hard Times is Marler Law Partners core value, and throughout the year, Marler Law Partners focuses on helping those in need. In this season of holiday giving, MLP selected two ways to give back to the community.

Earlier this month, on Giving Tuesday, they donated $1,200 to Rocky Creek Youth Ranch, a youth facility that helps over 30 young men in St. Francois County.

“Rocky Creek Youth Ranch is a great organization,” MLP Managing Partner Sara Marler said. “It broke my heart talking to the therapist who was organizing Christmas for all their kids on a shoestring budget. I decided Marler Law Partners could help make their Christmas a little brighter.”

But the giving didn’t stop on Giving Tuesday! Instead of doing their annual Christmas party, MLP decided to put that money to better use and donate that budget to four families in need in Iron County.

The staff ordered pizza and had a wrapping party last week so that the families would have clothes, shoes, blankets, presents as well as other necessities like clean water and gas for generators to stay warm. Marler Law Partners staff, along with Judge Scott Schrum, had the opportunity to meet with the families and deliver the gifts at South Iron Elementary School on Thursday, December 19, 2019.

“It was touching to meet with the families and hear their stories,” Partner Ramona Gau said. “One of the moms was so grateful that her kids will get Christmas this year. She might be surprised at how much there is in our haul for her, too.”

At Marler Law Partners, helping good people through hard times is more than just a catchphrase – it’s what every person who works here does day in and day out.

And it’s not just something we do when representing clients in court. We live our message daily in our personal lives as well. It’s how we spend our time, our money and how we support the community around us.

First, Marler Law doesn’t represent giant, global corporations or companies – we represent the people, families and small business owners of St. François, Jefferson County and St. Louis City and County. This dedication to our community is demonstrated by our representation of SEVEN local counties in the highly publicized cases Opioid cases against narcotics and pain killer distributers.

Second, our firm helps the community by supporting area non-profits. In addition to other causes, we’ve recently helped and supported these groups:

St. Louis Bikers Against Child Abuse, a local chapter of a larger national non-profit that protects and empowers abused children.

Marler Law Partners also donates to local food pantries and pregnancy resource centers to ensure that the most vulnerable in the community have access to the resources they need.

We are also proud to support and sponsor of community events like Relay for Life.

We also like to support non-charitable community organizations, which is why we have sponsored a Farmington softball team and a local youth soccer team.

Do you have an idea on how Marler Law can better support our wonderful community? Leave us a comment or give us a call!
