Denise Gabel sits down and answers questions about why she loves the work she’s doing, her food and entertainment recommendations, and gives us other fun facts about your favorite family law attorney.

What made you want to pursue a career in law?

It sounded like the best way to take the skills I have and use them to help people. I know it sounds simple, but that really was it for me.

What made you interested in family law in particular?

When I was with the Missouri Attorney General’s office and started working in child support, I found the work extremely rewarding because I was able to help real people with real, everyday problems. And in family law you get to help people when they’re going through what is often a tremendously traumatic time in their life. In a divorce or many other family law situations someone’s life and plans didn’t work out and were completely upended. When that happens, I have the opportunity to come in and help them rebuild their lives in a way that ultimately is in their best interest and more important, that of their children.

What is a hidden talent?

This may sound weird but I have a great ability to memorize songs very quickly.

What shows do you like watching?

TV isn’t like the ‘90s any more. I seem to find something I like then watch the entire series in a few weeks and then I’m onto something else. I’ve liked “Brooklyn 99” and “Better Call Saul” lately though. I watched “Breaking Bad” when it was airing originally.

What is one you’d recommend?

I’d have to say “Ted Lasso.” I love the positive approach to problem-solving.

If you weren’t a lawyer what would you be?

I’d probably be a high school history teacher!

If you could be a celebrity for one day, who would it be?

Dolly Parton. She’s had an incredible life filled with unique experiences. And who doesn’t like Dolly Parton?

What is your favorite thing about your coworkers?

I love how everyone at Marler works as a team. The culture is very supportive, very “all hands on deck”. I’d heard that before I came onboard here and it’s absolutely true.

If Marler Law were to compete in an Olympic Sport, what would it be, and why would you excel at that?

I’d have to say fencing. I love the quickness and the back and forth of it.

What is your ideal day off of work?

Going on various adventures with my husband and kids! Planning can be optional, but being flexible and open-minded is important.

What lawyer stereotypes to find to be true and untrue?

First, it’s pretty accurate that lawyers tend to think highly of themselves. Not all, but most. But the idea that all lawyers are self-centered, in it for the money and don’t care at all about their clients is way off in my experience.

Where is your favorite place to grab a bite or drink after work?

Well at this stage of my life I have young children so the drink after work isn’t much of an option and really, wherever they want to go for dinner usually works for me.

What else should folks know about Denise Gabel?

Just that I’m extremely excited to be here and to have the opportunity to help so many people. That’s what Marler is allabout and that truly is my focus. I’ve been fortunate to find the perfect fit for my values and interests.

Without a doubt, 2020 and 2021 have been tumultuous, tragic, and historic years. It is safe to say nearly everyone has been touched by the pandemic and/or the social, economic, and political shock waves associated with it.

So we believe it is especially important for our firm to take a moment to thank each of our clients for choosing us to serve them.

We strive to not only provide our clients with the best possible legal services, but we also value building relationships with our clients. We recognize the importance of the work we do for you, and understand how truly important it is to you.

We also are especially honored to serve our family law clients. Certainly, each area of law in which we offer services is important, but family law matters also often include very deep, personal elements.

The services we provide those family law clients can in the most literal sense change their lives and the lives of their children – forever.

We never forget that.

And with that in mind, we are especially grateful to have the opportunity to serve those clients.

Each of us at Marler Law Partners believes it’s important to pause during the holiday season and give thanks for the people who make our lives complete, full and rich. This includes family, friends, colleagues and of course, our clients.

With that in mind we also want to thank our clients for putting their trust and faith in our firm, and for the warm relationships we have with them.

We also want you to know that we are thankful that you are a part of our lives and that each and every client and our relationships with them makes our lives richer.

We wish you a wonderful holiday season, and a healthy and prosperous 2022!

What made you pursue a career in law?

It was something I never thought I would want to do initially. I had graduated from SLU with an undergraduate degree in biology and worked in genetics for a couple of years.

However, I needed a change working in sciences. It wasn’t very fulfilling working in research. I was looking for more interaction with individuals. I wanted an opportunity to work with people and see the impact and change I could make in their lives.

I ended up going to Mizzou Law School and did both a domestic law clinic and juvenile law clinic that really impacted me, leading me to pursue family law.

The interaction with my clients has definitely been the most rewarding part.
What advice would you give someone pursuing a career in family law?

Get as much practical experience as you can at a law firm or with different types of legal work during law school. The time you will be spending in the classroom learning the law and actually practicing it is completely different.

I would definitely want to be Michelle Obama. She seems to be one of the most liked people and despite being “in politics” isn’t too controversial as a person. She had a lot of influence on her husband during her time in the White House but didn’t take any of the heat for the political choices.

I’d probably be working in medicine. I’d like to be a doctor or nurse or someone that interacts with the patients.

By Ramona Gau

This is a hard post for me to draft. Part of me debated if as a completely white-operated law firm it was even our place to say anything regarding the Black Lives Matter movement. I feared that it might come off as a “trendy” thing to do, instead of sincere. However, I have learned over the years you never go wrong doing the right thing, and I must live in accordance with my core values. And, since one of my core values is being authentic, here we go…

At Marler Law Partners, our mission is simply to help good people through hard times. That’s it.

A good person can be any race, religion, nationality or gender. However, as a woman who has been through the criminal and civil justice system as both a citizen and an attorney, I can tell you this: our system does not treat everyone the same.

If you read my Q&A Blog Post last year, you might have read the story about my run in with a cop during my college years.

Growing up, I wanted to be in law enforcement. I really cared for people, respected cops and wanted to protect my community. When I was starting college, I talked to my college advisor and he asked why I wanted to be a cop. I had a typical teenager response, “fast cars, guns, etc.” He said I was smart [being only 17 and starting college] and asked if I had ever considered going to law school. At that point I had. My mom tells me that as a kid I was always saying I wanted to be a judge.

Around that same time, I had a run in with a police officer where I had gotten pulled over, and he was a complete jerk. I wasn’t doing anything wrong, but he didn’t like that I was out at 4 a.m. with my friends. He wrote me a ticket for going 35 over, when I actually had my cruise control set to the speed limit. He literally said “It’s your word against mine; I’ll see you in court.” I ended up having to pay a lot of money for that ticket. That situation, paired with where I was and what I was doing in college, propelled me to go into law school.

My experience pales in comparison to my black counterparts; I have one story to tell. Just one. So many within the black community have countless.

Let me give you some examples that stand out to me:

It was a typical Monday morning at my law office. Attorneys were grabbing files and heading to court, the paralegals we’re doing their thing, and everyone was catching up and chatting about what they get done over the weekend. One of the paralegals, who was a black woman, had just returned from a week-long vacation. As I inquired about what she had done, I learned that during her 8-hour drive back to the state of Missouri that she had been pulled over eight times. Yes, she was pulled over once every hour her entire trip back to Missouri. How many tickets was she given? Zero. Thinking back to that conversation, I remember being utterly appalled- not at the ridiculous number, not at the fact that no traffic violations were being committed nor were cited, but that my coworker was not disturbed because that had been a normal part of her life.

Other examples come from criminal defendant clients that recounted daily shakedowns by police officers – walking to work, walking to the bus stop, going to the corner store to buy ice, walking to vacation Bible school.

So here’s a common scenario: Cop’s a jerk, which leads to a scuffle, which ends with an arrest for assaulting police officer. I can’t help but hear that cops saying to me, it’s your word against mine; I’ll see you in court. “

My thoughts are incomplete without sharing that these “jerk cops” make the good police work and REAL cops’ jobs so much harder. I know many amazing police officers. They want to keep the peace and serve the community and I am so thankful for them.

I’m in a unique place as an attorney because I’ve been on both sides of the system. After over nine years as a criminal defense attorney, I worked in the St. Louis City prosecutor’s office. The higher-ups in my office were very aware of racial disparities and did what they could to educate and eliminate them.

I remember in one office meeting we played Monopoly- completely unexpected, by the way. Some of us started with $50 and no property and others $10,000 and half the properties. Who won? Whose lives were easier? Who had less, stress and better attitudes? Of course, this was the goal of the game; to make some people feel the lack of opportunity that so much of our black community does. We then discussed this situation for many criminal defendants and what our role was in taking defendant’s social histories into account. We were challenged to do our part, knowing that we were only one piece of the puzzle.

With all of that said, please know that we at Marler Law Partners see you and recognize that Black Lives Matter. We are committed to helping good people through hard times and we will continue to live out our mission for all.

If you’ve ever called our Marler Law Partners office, you have most likely heard the voice of the lovely Dawn Yates. She is the first point of contact for most Marler Law Partner clients.

In this month’s Q&A blog, we start focusing on the team behind the scenes of MLP so you can get to know more of the friendly faces/voices that greet you when you work with us.

Dawn shares her experience working with MLP as a client and team member, as well as a few of her favorite things to do with her daughter around the Farmington and St. Louis area.

How did you first get connected with MLP? How long have you worked there?

I started working with Marler Law Partners in June 2019. I found out about the job through Sara Marler when meeting with her about my case. I was actually a client of Sara’s several years ago and came in to update some paperwork pertaining to my case. At the end of our meeting she mentioned the opportunity to work at the firm and handle client intake.

I love Sara and loved working with her as a client, so I was thrilled at the opportunity to work with her again.

What was it like being a client for Marler Law Partners? How did you come to choose them as a firm?

I have been family friends with Brenda, Sara’s paralegal, for almost my whole life. So, when I had to get a child custody agreement in place, Brenda was the first person I called.

Although she didn’t work for Sara yet, she highly recommended Sara, who she said is one of the best family law attorneys in the area. After my first meeting with Sara, I knew I wanted to hire her. She had great energy, and she gave me confidence that she could resolve my matter.

I was completely clueless how to find a lawyer and had never dealt with legal issues before, so I was glad that I had a friend with a recommendation!

What made you choose a career in the legal industry?

I have always been interested in law, crime and justice. I didn’t know if I wanted to be a cop or a detective or a lawyer, but I knew it was a path I was super interested in.

I’ve tossed around the idea of law school, but after having my daughter, it made it difficult to go away to law school.

I didn’t realize how many things you could do in the legal profession without being a lawyer until I got this job at the firm.

What does your job entail?

I am the person who answers the phones, so I’m often the first point of contact when clients call our office. Many times, I obtain information about their situation to determine if our office is able to handle their matter.

I’ll find out which county their case is in, gather any useful information, and take notes for the attorney, but most importantly I try to really listen to people, so they feel heard. People usually call an attorney’s office in times of need; I try to be the first one at the firm to assure them they have called the right place and we are here to help.

If it’s a case we can help them with, I schedule them for a complimentary consultation with one of our attorneys, answer any other general questions they may have, and send them electronic forms to complete prior to their meeting. This way potential clients can spend their meeting time speaking with the attorney and not filling out forms.

What surprised you about working at a law firm?

I expected that working at a law firm would be fast paced, which it is. However, the firm itself is more laid back than I thought a law firm would be, which makes everyone here very approachable.

I learned a LOT on the job. I only knew the legal background of my own case and had no knowledge of the other service areas Marler Law Partners provides.

What is your favorite thing about working for Marler Law Partners?

My favorite part is being able to learn about how a law firm works and learn so much about the law, despite having not gone to law school. I like it when I hear back from clients that I helped do intake for once they are midway through their case or towards the end.

They might say “Hey Dawn! Things are going great! We love it here!” It’s really rewarding when I get to hear from clients again after they’ve been helped by our attorneys.

When you aren’t at MLP, what are your hobbies or things that keep you busy?

My daughter and I like to go explore and stay out of the house. Some of our favorite places are the Science Center, Sky Zone or going to events like the Garden Glow at the Botanical Gardens.

My daughter likes the City Museum the best. It’s the best playground for kids and adults!

What is your favorite movie / TV show / podcast / book?

My go to TV show is “Supernatural.” I’ve watched it several times through. I’m currently watching “Empire” and the music is really great!

When my daughter is home though, we always watch “Boss Baby” (the TV Show).

Where is your favorite restaurant?

My daughter loves chicken strips, so we either go to Colton’s or to White Castle for their chicken rings!

How do you “help good people through hard times” in your own life, outside of MLP?

I try to live that out by being nice to people. You never know what people are going through in their day to day lives.

It could be as little as helping them pick something up or paying it forward by paying for the coffee of the person behind you.

I always try to pay compliments to other people. I think it’s important for women to support other women instead of tearing each other down; it’s nice to pay each other an easy compliment. It can make someone’s day.

If Marler Law Partners was competing in an Olympic sport, what sport would it be?

I think we’d be a volleyball team. Jessy on our team would be the server. Ramona would be the one hitting the ball over the net. And Cayla would be our coach.

I would be in the back row passing the ball to the other team members.

What advice has been most useful to you during your professional career?

The best thing that I’ve been told at Marler Law Partners is to not freak out when I have been given an unfamiliar task and that there are no such thing as stupid questions. The firm is very supportive of the employees and strive to create an environment where it is okay to ask questions or ask for help.

That pairs with how much I’ve been able to learn while on the job here. If I didn’t feel comfortable asking a million questions a day, I would’ve never learned as much as I did!

In the last of our attorney Q&A blogs, Ramona Gau sits down and shares how she became the youngest law student in her class, her favorite pastimes with her kids, what she’s watching on Netflix, and more!

When did you know you wanted to be a lawyer?

He literally said “It’s your word against mine, I’ll see you in court.” I ended up having to pay a lot of money for that ticket.

That situation, paired with where I was and what I was doing in college, propelled me to go into law school.

How did you get through your education so fast [starting college at 17 and turning 21 your first week of law school]?

I grew up in a family where my parents didn’t have a lot of extra, so I took a lot of college classes in high school because they were cheap and affordable. I took as many college classes as I could in high school, so I actually started college as a second semester sophomore. So I naturally finished my undergrad in two and half years.

I had a semester off between college and law school. During that time I had a full-time job working for an attorney and a full-time job working at Walmart. I also substitute taught on the days when I could squeeze that in, too. I’ve always been a very goal-driven person. I learned from a young age you have to work hard for what you want.

I turned 21 my first week of law school, which was an interesting situation. Law school was awesome! I absolutely LOVED Columbia, MO.

When you started law school, did you know what area of law you wanted to practice?

I was definitely interested in criminal law because I wanted to be a cop in undergrad and I was a criminal justice major. However, I took this tax class and I just absolutely LOVED it. At one point in law school, I thought I wanted to be a tax attorney.

However, I also learned I’d have to go back to undergrad to be a CPA to be competitive in the field, and I didn’t want to step backwards. As soon as I got into practical classes, that’s when I knew I wanted to be in the courtroom. And as a young attorney, the fastest way to get into the courtroom is by either being a prosecutor or public defender. And that’s exactly what I did right out law law school.

Give us the “Spark Notes” of your career.

I worked in the public defender’s office in Hannibal, MO following law school. I also was an adjunct professor at the college in Hannibal teaching night classes. After that, I moved to St. Louis, where I worked in the public defender’s office. I then transitioned to a private civil family law firm and later a large general civil law firm. Then I went back to public work at the City Prosecutor’s office to join the City’s homicide team. After that, I came to Marler Law Partners!

What trends have you noticed the most in your area of practice?

I have seen within the criminal justice system the sentencing move from a focus on retribution or punishing the person to more of a rehabilitation mindset. How can we get this person in a better position, so they don’t repeat their mistakes?

Fifteen years ago, if someone was caught with someone else’s prescription – not even street drugs – they would be looking at prison time. Now, it’s almost unheard of that a first-time offender would serve time. They are getting drug court or probation or something that rehabilitates.

In family law, there were actually changes in the law. In Missouri, equal parenting time between mom and dad is now the presumption.

Was there a particular case or situation that had the most impact on your career?

When I was a baby public defender – a brand new attorney – I never appreciated that some people’s lives put them at such a disadvantage to where finishing high school is a big deal and should truly be celebrated.

One thing I learned that gave me better perspective and more empathy towards people and care to fight for them was this analogy:

“If you’re playing a game of Monopoly and start off with only $50 and no property and the person you’re playing against has $5,000 and half the properties owned, in that situation, who’s going to win?”

I was given that analogy early on and it helped me want to fight for some that may otherwise seem undeserving.

What advice would you give someone wanting to pursue a career in law?

You need to work in a law office, understand the environment, meet lawyers and get to know what it’s like – not just on TV, but in real life.

One thing I would share with anyone who is interested in law is that you need to plan on working 24/7. Even if you are not at work, it’s in your head and on your mind; it’s not just a job you can leave at work.

What helps you destress after a long day at work?

Before I had kids, I would go to the gym every day and that helped focus on the pain of working out and not worry about the stress at the office. Now that I have kids, I try to spend that down time with them. It helps me reconnect with why I do the work I do and recharge.

Right now, we’re reading books with the kids. There is an awesome children’s series “The School for Good and Evil” that we read together at night. We usually read a chapter a night, but last night, we read two because it was so exciting!

What are your favorite TV Shows?

I love cooking shows! Whatever is on Netflix. Chopped is my favorite. The kids like watching “Nailed It!” because Nicole is so funny.

So since you have a love for cooking (or watching cooking) what is your go-to meal you’d make for a dinner party?

Ribeye steak, au gratin potatoes and some sort of salad.

What are some of your favorite local businesses?

Mario’s Pizza in Farmington is great! In St. Louis, my favorite restaurant is Trattoria Marsala.

If you at Marler Law Partners were to compete in an Olympic sport, what would it be and why?

Curling! I would be one of the brusher people. Sara would be the one shooting it – and the rest of us are getting it where it needs to go.

Is there anything you’d like your clients to know about you outside of being an attorney?

Clients tell me I’m easy to talk to. I don’t appreciate when lawyers try to talk above people. I really try to meet people where they are at and talk to them. I grew up with my parents working at Walmart. I know the value of the dollar and what it’s like to work hard for everything you have. I’m really down to earth and practical. I can talk like a lawyer when I need to – but I don’t need to do that when I’m with my clients.

What is your favorite part of working at Marler Law Partners?

I love that we have a team environment – staff, lawyers and paralegals. I like the corny saying “Teamwork makes the Dreamwork.” I appreciate that we get along and really like each other.

What lawyer stereotypes to you find to be true and untrue?

The stereotype that lawyers are untrustworthy is untrue. There is a stereotype that lawyers are jerks. I would say that not all of them are, but yes lawyers can be jerks. The ego that comes along with the Bar Card is noticeable for some. But you get bad and good stereotypes in any profession.

If you could be a celebrity for a day, who would you want to be?

I would want to be a WNBA star. I played basketball all through high school and in college, back when the WNBA was starting.

Have you ever had a celebrity run-ins?

In high school, I worked at Home Depot and I ran into two celebrities. I ran into Todd Lyght, the Rams player right after the Rams won the Super Bowl in 2000.

I didn’t recognize him and was making him 10 copies of his new house key. I asked him “Why do you need 10 house keys? You have something going on?” And he told me who he was. I also ran into Ozzie Smith, who was also super nice and buying an original Weber grill. The West St. Louis County Home Depot is where the celebrity run-ins are at!

If you weren’t an attorney, what would you want to be?

I’d probably be a high school math teacher. When I was 17 and figuring out what I wanted to do in college, I considered a math major before I went with criminal justice.

In my mind at the time, I thought being a math teacher would lead to me having homework, whereas being a cop after my criminal justice major would mean I could leave the work at work. Joke is on me, because I became an attorney which is WAY more homework than a math teacher!

I think I speak for most of the Marler Law Partners’ staff when I say we are lucky that Ramona didn’t become a math teacher!

Well it’s that time of year for the “New Year, New Me” sentiments on social media and the declarations of extreme New Year’s Resolutions. Some of those goals revolve around personal or professional development; however, many revolve around a physical transformation – new hair, a workout routine (make it past January 15th this year!), etc.

I guess this year… Marler Law Partners will also be jumping on the whole “New Year, New Me” bandwagon!

As you all know, we rebranded to Marler Law Partners at the end of October, following Scott Schrum’s judgeship appointment. At the time we released our modified logo and made some small changes.

As anyone who follows us on social media knows, we have now updated our branding to match the new name! And for anyone who has ever had a meeting in my office, we hope you can recognize the gold circle as a Sara staple. You can see the updated branding on our website, letterhead, marketing materials and more moving forward.

But like most New Year’s Resolutions, it’s all about putting a new face or routine on the same person. So even though we’ve had a makeover, we’ll still be the same firm that you’ve learned to trust over the years.

As you may have read in our press release, we are still actively involved and dedicated to helping our community. As you can see on our billboards, it’s the same attorneys serving you in the same locations.

And yes, even after two months of being the only Scott, Scott is still “Pecher.” But, our 2020 goal is to be a little bolder with our marketing. We want to shout our successes and share more about our mission to help good people through hard times.

How will we do that professionally, personally and as a team? We want to hear from you!

How do you think we should give back to the community? What are some legal misconceptions we can break down for you? Is there anything else we can do to help?

We don’t write the blogs because we’re bored – we write them for you! We want to be a resource you can count on when you have questions about the law – no matter how big or small.

Although 2019 was a year full of changes, it has helped move us forward to where we are today – a firm that desperately needs a vacation!

But in all seriousness, the many after-hours and late nights put in by our staff were well worth it this year and have prepared us to take on new challenges in 2020. And after my holiday vacation, I’ll be recharged and ready to come back to the office in 2020 to fight for our clients and fight for the good people of Southeast Missouri!

Happy Holidays from all of us at Marler Law Partners! We hope you enjoy the New Year and continue to trust and rely on the “new” MLP!

MARLER LAW PARTNERS GIVES BACK DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON

MLP Gives Back To Youth Organization & Donates Holiday Party Budget To Families In Need

Farmington, MO: Helping Good People Through Hard Times is Marler Law Partners core value, and throughout the year, Marler Law Partners focuses on helping those in need. In this season of holiday giving, MLP selected two ways to give back to the community.

Earlier this month, on Giving Tuesday, they donated $1,200 to Rocky Creek Youth Ranch, a youth facility that helps over 30 young men in St. Francois County.

“Rocky Creek Youth Ranch is a great organization,” MLP Managing Partner Sara Marler said. “It broke my heart talking to the therapist who was organizing Christmas for all their kids on a shoestring budget. I decided Marler Law Partners could help make their Christmas a little brighter.”

But the giving didn’t stop on Giving Tuesday! Instead of doing their annual Christmas party, MLP decided to put that money to better use and donate that budget to four families in need in Iron County.

The staff ordered pizza and had a wrapping party last week so that the families would have clothes, shoes, blankets, presents as well as other necessities like clean water and gas for generators to stay warm. Marler Law Partners staff, along with Judge Scott Schrum, had the opportunity to meet with the families and deliver the gifts at South Iron Elementary School on Thursday, December 19, 2019.

“It was touching to meet with the families and hear their stories,” Partner Ramona Gau said. “One of the moms was so grateful that her kids will get Christmas this year. She might be surprised at how much there is in our haul for her, too.”

About Marler Law Partners: Marler Law Partners is a Southeast Missouri and St. Louis based law firm providing legal services in Family Law, Personal Injury, Workers’ Compensation, Estate Planning and Criminal Defense. The attorneys of Marler Law Partners have decades of experience helping good people through hard times via their legal services while also emphasizing a positive community impact on St. Louis and St. Francois counties through philanthropic endeavors.

After our announcement last week of Scott Schrum’s judicial appointment, I began reflecting on the changes our firm will make. As of today, Marler Schrum Law will be rebranding to Marler Law Partners as Scott Schrum moves on to his next professional life chapter. It’s a bittersweet moment for us. As anyone who has worked with us knows, we truly are a family at our law firm. And if you know Scott Schrum, you know what a big presence he is in our community. While we are happy for Scott’s transition, his day-to-day presence in our lives will be missed.

So often at our firm we are the ones guiding others through a season of change in their lives. Whether they are getting divorced, needing defending against a false criminal accusation or overcoming an injury, Marler Schrum Law has been that personal team and counsel to guide them through the process and transition. And now, as we sit in the same seat with our “family” changing, I can appreciate even more how our clients feel. It’s a bit like moving into a new apartment or a house. You are excited to reorganize things into your new space, re-evaluate some of the things you own and start some new routines, but you also still must face the reality of leaving behind good memories made in the past and the emotions resulting from closing a profound life chapter.

We are excited for the next phase of our law firm, but there are a lot of moving boxes. Some of the changes are fun to discuss – like picking a new logo (coming soon!) and more opportunities to rebrand. Some of the changes are more challenging in their administration – changing our name on all of our materials both online and offline, updating all of our business registration information and all within a week! And some are painful and uncomfortable, like learning to function as a team without one of our best players.

I’m happy to say that our family pulled together and has accomplished a lot just in time to celebrate with Scott as he gets sworn in today. We knew this day would come for Scott as serving his community as a judge has always been a dream of his, but we didn’t expect it so soon. And when an opportunity like this comes your way, you don’t ignore the call. We couldn’t be more proud of Scott, nor could there be a more deserving person for this role.

So what can you, our extended Marler Law Partners family, expect? Well, things will be largely the same around here except for cosmetic changes.

You can still find us at our three locations.

You can still count on the fact that when you hire an attorney at our firm, you are hiring an entire legal team to partner with you on your case.

You can still expect that Brenda, Dawn, Cayla, Jessy, Sherilyn and Diane will be answering your calls and caring for your needs at the office.

You can still expect our attorneys to be your counselor and advisor while we fight for you.

You can still expect our presence and support for local organizations and businesses in St. Francois County and beyond.

And you can still expect us to refer to Scott Pecher as Pecher, despite him being the only Scott at our office now. (Old habits die hard, am I right?)

So stay tuned for the new fresh face of Marler Law Partners in the coming months! From our family to yours, thank you for being on this journey with us as we all adjust to change and yet seek to seize every opportunity!

All the best,

Sara Marler, Managing Partner
